Yusuf's Preview
Last updated: 1 September 2026
Yusuf's Preview does not collect any data. It has no servers, no analytics, no advertising, no accounts and no third-party SDKs. The app makes no network requests of its own. Your documents and everything you do with them stay on your devices and in your own iCloud account, which only you can access.
When you add a PDF, the app copies it into its own folder in your iCloud Drive. That folder is visible to you in the Files app under "Yusuf's Preview". The original file you imported from is never modified. Your markup is written into these copies when you save.
The page you were reading, the chapters you create, your recently opened list, and a note of where a document was imported from are stored in your iCloud key-value storage. This is what lets you pick up on another device where you left off. It is part of your personal iCloud account.
A copy of your pen strokes is kept alongside your documents, so strokes can be erased and edited individually after you reopen a document rather than becoming a permanent part of the page. This copy is held in the app's own iCloud container, which means markup you make on one device is editable on another. If you are not signed in to iCloud, it is kept on the device instead, in the app's Application Support folder. Either way it is yours: the developer has no access to it.
You can place a photo from your photo library onto a page. The app uses Apple's own photo picker, which runs outside the app: it hands over only the single photo you chose, and the app is never given access to your photo library. It cannot see, browse or search your photos, and it does not ask for permission to, because it never has any.
Every photo you add is stripped of its metadata before it is stored. The image is rebuilt from its pixels alone, which leaves behind the location it was taken, the date and time, the device and lens, and anything else the camera recorded. Only the picture itself is kept. The stripped copy is stored beside your document in the app's own iCloud container so the photo is there when you open the document on another device.
The app has no camera access of any kind.
Your preferences — such as which controls stay on screen and whether markup is limited to Apple Pencil — are stored on the device.
The app uses Apple's iCloud Drive and iCloud key-value storage so your library is the same on every device you sign in to. This data is held in your own iCloud account under your Apple Account. The developer has no access to it and no way to read it. Apple's handling of iCloud data is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.
If you turn iCloud off for this app, it will keep working with whatever is already on that device.
If you have Handoff enabled, the app tells your other nearby Apple devices which document you have open and which page you are on, so you can continue reading on another device. This is handled entirely by Apple between devices signed in to your Apple Account. It is not sent to the developer or to anyone else.
The app collects nothing from anyone, including children under 13. There is no sign-up, no messaging and no user-generated content shared with anyone.
Deleting the app removes the settings held on that device. Your documents live in your iCloud Drive; you can delete them at any time from the Files app or from within the app. Removing the app's data from iCloud settings clears the saved reading positions and chapters, along with the editable markup and any photos you have placed on pages. Deleting a photo from a page deletes the stored copy with it.
If this policy changes, the revised version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top.
